Unexplainable
A mind-altering lightness
Leaving one afloat
Consuming feeling
Which awakens the senses
Love, the only truth
Quite irrational
When caught in its endless web
Willing surrender

(Tuesday 20th September – Monday 26th September)
This week’s theme is Light. Write a poem, haiku or short story inspired by this theme.
She emits warm light
Embracing the world from on top
The source of all life
Great is her power
As she rises above each day
Beauty in yellow
A scorching anger
Can burn all those below
Such furious heat
A loving fire
Desired by all beings
Feared when merciless
This device has been a staple in my life for years, but
it has now become an addiction I’m beginning to fear.
It starts with checking my email in the morning, then
before long I’m streaming and chatting and blogging.
I’m called by my friends and family and peers, however,
all their calls are nulled by the screen, and I’ve disappeared
I’m transfixed by its beckoning light and imaged worlds, and
have lost interest in the reality around.
It offers entertainment, virtual experiences and information, but
lacks the intimacy of human interaction.
An appealing contraption of attractive power has
locked its subjects in an inescapable tower.
Connected to every country from a comfortable seat, but
lacking the experience. What a cheat!
I sit here behind a screen to write this poem, isn’t this
the most ironic statement you have ever known?
Intro to Poetry – Day 6 (Screen)
Chocolate skin melting the hearts of men
Mocha mistress struts with a seductive grin
Sipping coffee every morning, but at night enjoys her gin
Hazel eyes peering into a luring den
Copper clasps twinkling in the early light
Brunette beauty leaves in expert stealth
Mahogany doors close, shutting in useless wealth
While cunning caramel queen wanders in plain sight
Miniature Writing Challenge #36
In response to the Sometimes Stellar Storyteller Six Word Story Challenge
In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Break the Silence.”
When was the last time you really wanted (or needed) to say something, but kept quiet? Write a post about what you should’ve said.
Silent as the grave
Silent as the dead
Silent out of fear
Silent out of dread
Words slay the darkness
Words show the light
Words set you free
Only if you have the might
Break the silence
Scream the words
Write them down
Share them and let them be heard
Because whether you are true
Or whether you are not
Your silence condemns you
Because your words can mean a lot
