The Fallen Flag

Defeated at last

A fallen dishonored flag

Natives take the land

Foreign rulers leave

While dragging their flag in shame

Their ships take them home

Allies are honored

As civilizations merge

Different is one

Peace erased the past

Foreign and native combined

They create a whole

“Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” – Leo Tolstoy (Anna Karenina)

Families come in all shapes, sizes, forms and mannerisms. Every person has his/her version of a family, whether they are related by blood or marriage or neither. For this week write a poem or short story about who you consider to be family.
